미주장신은 연방정부에서 학생들을 위한 Covid 19 지원금을 재 지원받아

2021년 봄학기에도 등록 현황에 따라 소정의 Cares Act Grant를 해당 기준에 맞는 학우님들(영주권, 시민권 신분의 학사 & 석사 과정)께

지급할 수 있게 되었습니다.

지난 학기에 이미 신청서와 관련 서류들을 제출하신 분들은 신청서를 제출하지 않아도 됩니다.

새로 신청하시는  분들은 아래에 첨부되어 있는 신청서 양식(Application)을 작성, Financial Aid Office (Fsa@ptsa.edu)에 제출합니다.

마감일: 2월 12일

그 외에 지난 학기의 수혜자를 포함한 모든 신청자들은 첨부되어 있는 “Emergency Grant II Consent Form ”를 제출해 주세요.

The Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund II (HEERF II) is authorized by the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act, 2021 (CRRSAA), Public Law 116-260, signed into law by President Donald J. Trump on Dec. 27, 2020. In total, the CRRSAA authorizes $81.88 billion in support for education, in addition to the $30.75 billion former Secretary DeVos expeditiously provided last spring through the Coronavirus Aid, Recovery, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, Public Law 116-136.

Emergency Assistance Grant must be used to cover expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus pandemic. This includes, but is not limited to, eligible expenses under a student’s cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and childcare.

Eligibility
All currently registered spring semester students (undergraduate & graduate) who meet the following criteria are eligible to apply:

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent, such as a GED, or have completed homeschool through the 12th grade.


• Must be working on an approved degree that is at least 24 credits in length.


• Must be a U.S. citizen, or permanent resident.


• Must not be in default of a federal student loan or owe a repayment of a federal grant.


• Must register with the Selective Service if a male, and at least 18 years old.


• Must have at least 2.0 cumulative GPA if a continuing student.

Other factors affecting eligibility and the amount awarded to students include:

• The type of need indicated on the application form.


• The numbers of credits students are currently registered for.


• Funds are limited and PTSA does not guarantee that every student who is eligible will receive funding.


• Amounts vary, depends on the status of student.

Process

1. Students can use application form (see the attachment) and submit it to FSA office. (fsa@ptsa.edu)


2. Financial Aid Office might ask to submit verification document.


3. All students submit “Emergency Grant II Consent Form 2” to FSA office.

If I receive funds, what can I spend them on?

Students may choose how they wish to spend the funds. The school will not tell students how to use the funds they receive.

But it can be used for expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to coronavirus (including eligible expenses under a student's cost of attendance, such as food, housing, course materials, technology, health care, and child care).

Do the funds need to be repaid?

No, the funds do not need to be repaid.

Can this funding reduce my financial aid?

No, these funds are exempt from the maximum financial aid amount students may receive.

Can I apply for funding more than once?

Students may only apply once.

Is there a deadline to apply?

Funds are limited. The sooner students apply the more likely they are to receive funds.

Could these funds be deemed taxable by the IRS?

CARES Act student payments are non-taxable, according to the IRS.

Can CARES Emergency Assistance Grant funds be applied to my tuition balance or account?

Yes, please sign the “Emergency Grant II Consent Form ”, then school will process it according to the student’s choice.

Please ensure you have what you need to cover these expenses before using any emergency grant funds to make payment on an outstanding student

account balance.
